Over Surgery fully supports Patient Online, an NHS initiative to offer online services such as booking appointments, ordering repeat medications and access to your health record. We hope this makes managing your own health needs as easy and convenient as possible.




We use SystemOnline to offer these services. If you are registered and have your username and password you can access SystemOnline by the link below. If you are not registered please see the sections below which will explain how to register and will give you more information on the services available. You may also find our Patient Information leaflet helpful.

Registering and Getting Online Access

You will need to register before you are able to use the online service and this can be done easily by completing the on-line form, 'Request access to Online Services at The Over Surgery', found by following the SystemOnline link above. Alternatively this can be downloaded here and completed before returning to reception. The forms are also available on request at reception. Please note you will need to present Photo ID, such as your driving licence or passport, at reception before the registration process can be completed whichever method you use.


Once registered you will be given a username and password that you can use to access the online service via the SystemOnline link above. You will automatically be given access to book and cancel appointments, access to your repeat prescriptions including ordering these online and access to your summary care record as requested at the time of registration.

Book and Cancel Appointments

Once registered you will be able to manage your appointments using SystemOnline. This includes booking and cancelling appointments as well as seeing forthcoming appointments you have and previous appointments.

Booking Appointments:

You can book the following types of appointments online:

  • Routine GP appointments
  • Telephone GP appointments
  • Phlebotomy (blood test) appointments
  • Flu Clinic appointments

Appointments for our nurses are not currently available online because of the significant variation in length of time for each appointment dependent on the clinical need. These are best booked by contacting our reception team.

Cancelling Appointments:

Appointments can only be cancelled if they are more than one hour ahead. If you need to cancel an appointment with less than an hour's notice, please contact the reception team.

Repeat Prescriptions

You can see and order your repeat medication using SystemOnline.

If you use Over Pharmacy your medications will be ready two full working days after requesting your medication(s). Please note Over Pharmacy is closed at 13:00pm on Wednesdays and at weekends.

Using SystemOnline is by far the easiest way of ordering your repeat medications and we encourage all of our patients, where possible, to do so.


You can also order your repeat medications by using one of the following services:  

  • Use our Repeat Ordering Service - please speak to one of our Pharmacists in-store for details.
  • Post your repeat slip in the box outside, if we are closed, or inside the surgery during opening hours.
  • Fax it to us.

If you wish to speak to a pharmacist for advice on medicines or other queries, please contact us during opening hours.  


Please note we cannot accept repeat medication requests over the phone or on our answerphone.

Summary Care Records

Summary Care Records (SCR) is an NHS England service.The aim is to allow access for healthcare professionals to key information in an emergency or when the surgery is closed.


The information in your SCR can include:

  • Your recorded allergies and sensitivities
  • Treatments received or ongoing
  • Any known long-term conditions
  • Recent test results
  • Recent one-off medications
  • Current repeat medication(s)

Detailed Coded Record

The practice also offers patients access to their Detailed Coded Record (DCR) which offers a greater amount of information than is available in your Summary Care Record.


The video below is a short introduction that helps give an overview of some of the advantages of having access to your DCR. You may also find further helpful information at NHS England's Youtube Channel.




Access needs to be requested once you are registered for online services and this can be done easily by following the steps below:

  1. Log in to SystemOnline.
  2. Go in to ‘Online Account Management’.
  3. Go to ‘Manage Online service’.
  4. Next to, 'Detailed Coded Data', click on ‘Add’. 

Alternatively you can download an application form here and return this to reception.


Each application will be considered individually in line with our policy and can take up to 28 days to approve.


Access For Under 18s

In line with national guidance, access for under 18s to their Detailed Coded Record is not currently available. Under 18s will continue to have access to the online appointments system, repeat prescriptions and their Summary Care Record.

It is understandably important that we have up-to-date contact details for you. Using SystemOnline you can update these details including:

  • Contact telephone number
  • E-mail address

Proxy Access

A competent patient who has capacity can choose and consent to allow online access to relatives and/or carers. 'Consent To Proxy Access to GP Online Services', form must be completed which can be accessed here. 

All applications in circumstances where a patient does not have capacity to consent to proxy access will need to be discussed with the practice and will be decided on an individual basis.

Online services can also be accessed via the System One app which is available for both Android and iPhone users. Please search for System One in your app store and download. Please log in using your username and password obtained at registration.
